Bachelor of Theology
The BTh is available to students who
qualify for one of the following two programs:
Leaders Track
Leaders Track is a fast track program which offers credit for ministry
experience. This B.Th. program provides advanced leadership development for
mature students who may lack academic background, but who have demonstrated
leadership qualities, Bible study disciplines, spiritual gifting, and proven
ministry skills. At PLBC, these qualities are considered evidence of practical
learning, so students who meet the program requirements are awarded advanced
standing for the accelerated Bachelor of Theology degree. The qualifying
applicant must be 30 years of age or older, be a high school graduate (or
equivalent) and have at least 5 years of full-time church leadership experience
(or 5000 hours in lay leadership). Some approved Bible College courses may be
transferable. No practicum credits will be awarded in this program. Please note
that there are special application procedures for this program, which includes
an advanced Bible Knowledge Exam, an English Proficiency Exam, and an evaluation
of ministry experience by the Academic Review Committee.
Degree Upgrade
Degree Upgrade is a fast track program which offers students credit for their
academic experience. Students who have already completed an undergraduate degree
in a field other than Bible or Theology may apply under this program. The
objectives of this track are the same as the general objectives of the four-year
programs. Adding a second baccalaureate degree in theology allows the student to
integrate their background in general studies with a concentration of biblical
studies and specific ministry interests. Evaluation of transfer credits will
always be done in light of Pacific Life Bible College's degree requirements.
Whenever transfer courses do not meet our core and/or non-transferable
requirements, students will need to make up these courses beyond the 64 credits
required for the Bachelor of Theology degree.
Program Overview
It is expected that by the completion of these program requirements the
student will have:
1. Expanded their views of ministry in a postmodern world.
2. Added to their knowledge and experience further skills in church leadership.
3. Prepared themselves as a lifelong learner and teacher of the Scriptures.
4. Discovered, through assessments, their
personal leadership style and practice.
5. Qualified academically to pursue further ministerial and theological seminary
programs and licensing with certain ministerial licensing associations.
